This weekend, awesome events all over the place in yr fine city, Chicagoans!
First, tonight at 7 pm, there's a double D+Q book launch at Quimby's (1854 W. North Ave). Kevin Huizenga and Dan Zettwoch will be on hand to launch Birdseye Bristoe and Gloriana. They'll each be giving a short presentation, which will be followed by hanging out and signing books. There will be a collaborative screenprint to give away to people who purchase either book!
|Why hello, beautiful new Dan & Kevin poster!|
THEN TONIGHT, THE VERY SAME NIGHT (EGADS), new Minneapolite Anders Nilsen will be at the Elmhurst Art Museum (150 Cottage Hill Ave in Elmhurst). Don't even ask me how you decide what to do! All I can do is provide you with details and you'll have to make your own decision, people. Starting at 6:30 pm, he'll be opening an exhibit called Adam and Eve Sneak Back into the Garden of Eden to Steal More Apples. According to Anders, the exhibit will feature original artwork from Big Questions and the new Adam and Eve piece, which is the largest drawing Anders has ever done, clockin' in at 5' by 8', PLUS a 28 foot long hand-made accordion book called Rage of Poseidon.
I stole this photo of the Adam and Eve piece in progress from Anders's blog:
But don't agonize too much about the decision, because Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, Anders, Dan, and Kevin will all be at CAKE alongside too many other totes awesome comics folks to keep track of (Lisa Hanawalt, Brian Ralph, Gabrielle Bell, Marc Bell, Michael Deforge, John P., Koyama Press, Secret Acres, etc. etc.) Full exhibitor list here.
Find 'em all at Chicago Alternative Comics Expo, which is in the Columbia College Ludington Building at 1104 S. Wabash. Get out there people and start hitting comics events! Happy Friday!
