Ooowhee Brooklyn, you folks are lucky this weekend. A whole bunch of cartoonists are going to grace your shores with comics and comics and comics at Comic Arts Brooklyn (CAB) in the Mt Carmel Church at 275 N 8th St in Williamsburg. The show runs from 11 am to 7 pm on Saturday November 9th, and features a curated but very exciting sounding lineup of panels at the Knitting Factory. We'll have Michael DeForge, Lisa Hanawalt, Miriam Katin, Art Spiegelman, and Adrian Tomine at our tables! More on that later.
First, let's switch things around a little! We'll start with debuts. We've only got two, but they are hefty:
Ant Colony by Michael DeForge! Out a good two months before its January pub date! And...
Showa 1926-1939: A History of Japan by Shigeru Mizuki!
And since we've got a debut Michael DeForge title, check out what our panel/signing schedule looks like! All signings take place at the Drawn & Quarterly tables, U20-22 upstairs in the Mt Carmel Church. All panels take place in the Knitting Factory, a short walk from the church at 361 Metropolitan Ave.
11 am to 12 pm Miriam Katin signing
11 am City of Glass panel featuring Art Spiegelman, Paul Auster, Paul Karasik, and David Mazzucchelli, moderated by Bill Kartalopoulos
12:30 to 1:30 pm Art Spiegelman signing
12:30 pm The New Generation panel featuring Michael DeForge, Lisa Hanawalt, Joe Lambert, and Katie Skelly, moderated by Karen Green
2 to 3 pm Michael DeForge and Lisa Hanawalt signing
3 to 5 pm Adrian Tomine signing
That's right, all of these faces:
It's safe to say this is gonna be one of the most fun comics events of the year, and it's free to attend, so get down there, y'all!
And lastly but certainly not leastly, if you're kicking around before or after the show and wondering if maybe there isn't just one more comics-y thing to do, well, good news! Art Spiegelman's Co-Mix: A Retrospective opens this Friday!
